Bio

3 Years ago Matt Dawson went to his first ever hard house night after hearing a CD that one of his friends had on in the car on his way home from work. After walking into the club and experiencing the atmosphere and seeing DJs mixing in front of thousands of people he decided that he needed to be a part of it.

He immediately started going out 3 times a week just to watch and listen to the big name DJs like The Tidy Boys, Andy Whitby and Rob Tissera and was amazed by their energy and style behind the decks.

Because of this he brought his very first decks… and everything started to get a little more interesting. Within a few months he was playing sets at his friends’ birthday parties just so he could play the music he loved. Then came his first mix CD not many copies were produced but it got Dawson the feedback he needed to start playing his next one and pushing his style even more. His 2nd cd was titles “Smoothed Out Wasted Hours” and was a mixture of uplifting, bouncy and filthy hard house. This time over 250 cd were produced and every single one snapped up. This cd gave Dawson his first opportunity to play on Internet Radio.

Happy Nation was a mainly Hardcore station but Dawson settled in well with energetic and lively shows and he was soon asked to play at their live events. After his first gig Dawson made regular appearances at Happy Nations parties, and was spotted by a few other London nights including Vinyl Destination and Latitude and also played the main room at the mighty Emporium and Nu:Breed at the ever popular Voltz.

With the success of his last CD Dawson was eager to get the next one in the publics eyes, and after months of preparation “A Higher State Of Mind” was complete.

350 copies were printed and over 2000 people downloaded this new compilation of hard house which incorporated a mixture of vocal, uplifting, bounce and filthy hard house. One person to get a copy of this mix was Iain at Encore Music Management.
He soon snapped him up and Dawson then started to play some of the most talked about nights in the UK including Matt Dareys album launch, Squelcher and Funk Deluxe, playing along side big name djs such as Cally Gage, MDA & Spherical, Hoopz, Billy Bunter, D4rk, Matt Darey Mickey Slim and of course the other excellent djs on the Encore roster.

The end of 2007 is set to be a busy one for Dawson with some of his tracks being released on Relapse* and Nil by Mouth Recordings and bookings flying in for next year, and with 3 ltd edition download only mixes and a new demo coming 2008 is set to be a busy year for one of the new faces of Hard House.
